COLOSSUS OF RAMESSES II. The original huge colossus of Ramesses II is about fourteen meters high. Prisse d'Avennes firstly found this colossus in the mud in the area of the temple of Ptah at Memphis, and he completed it with feet and a pedestal in his drawing. Ramesses II (1279-1212bc) who acceded to power at the age of 25, earned his popular title 'Ramesses the Great' during his long reign of 67years. Measuring 24cm high x 11.5cm wide for each bookend
